Provincial/Territorial Base Funding
Building Canada provides a total of $175 million for each jurisdiction to address core infrastructure priorities.
Provincial/Territorial Base Funding can be used for construction or rehabilitation of infrastructure in almost all Building Canada Fund eligible categories, as well as for Highway System infrastructure.
To expedite infrastructure investments, Budget 2009 is accelerating payments under the Provincial/Territorial Base Fund. For the next two years, up to $1 billion in additional federal funding will be available for infrastructure initiatives. This funding is cost-shared with the provinces and territories to maximize investment by all levels of government.
