British Columbia - Building Canada Fund

There is currently no application intake for the Building Canada Fund. The last intake closed April 23, 2009.

Under the Canada-British Columbia Framework Agreement, $1,056.46 million from the Building Canada Fund will go towards infrastructure initiatives in British Columbia under the following two components:

Communities Component

$136 million, which includes $25 million for flood mitigation, will be allocated to smaller-scale projects in communities with populations of fewer than 100,000.

Communities Component Top-Up

Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, an additional $64.64 million has been allocated to smaller-scale projects in communities with populations of fewer than 100,000, for projects that will be substantially completed by March 31, 2011.

Major Infrastructure Component

$903.96 million will be dedicated to major infrastructure projects, particularly in national priority areas such as the National Highway System, transit, water and wastewater treatment and green energy.

The Governments of Canada and British Columbia will jointly identify and evaluate projects for funding under the Major Infrastructure Component of the Building Canada Fund.

Building Canada Fund in the provinces:

In recognition of the unique infrastructure challenges in Canada's North, the Building Canada Fund allocations will be added to the Base Funding Initiatives in the territories.
