Under the Canada-Saskatchewan Framework Agreement, $236.22 million from the Building Canada Fund will go towards infrastructure initiatives in Saskatchewan under the following two components:
$137.382 million of the Building Canada Fund will be dedicated to major infrastructure projects that have a national, provincial or regional impact and generate significant benefits in terms of a growing economy, a cleaner environment or stronger communities.
Project proposals may be identified by the province, municipalities, or the private sector (not-for-profit and for-profit). Project priorities are determined through federal-provincial discussions. Prior to the approval of federal funding, all projects are subject to a federal review to evaluate their eligibility, benefits and risks and to ensure that they meet minimum federal requirements.
$94.488 million has been fully allocated to smaller-scale projects in communities with populations of fewer than 100,000.
$4.135 million was transferred from the Major Infrastructure Component to the regular BCF Communities Component for Saskatchewan projects.
